Sen. Susan Collins said the question of expelling Roy Moore from the Senate is a complicated one.

The Republican from Maine noted she supported Sen. Luther Strange in the Alabama primary.

“I think that’s a really difficult question, and I don’t know the answer to that yet,” Collins said of whether Moore should face removal for pre-Senate conduct, if elected.

“We have to seat him,” she said, holding to the Constitutional and Supreme Court precedents on the qualifications for Senate election.

As for removing Moore, “I would obviously wait to see what the Ethics Committee recommends.”

Speaking at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast, Collins said the Ethics Committee would commence a review of Moore’s actions if he wins.
