Hey, Mr. Osteen, Here We Are

This week televangelist Joel Osteen will teach Members of Congress how to be better people in seven simple steps!

The author and senior pastor at the Lakewood mega-church in Houston will call the House to order at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

“Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) has invited Pastor Joel Osteen to serve as guest Chaplain,” Glenn Rushing, Jackson Lee’s chief of staff, said in an email today. “It is an honor to have Pastor Osteen open the House Session with a prayer for Members of the House of Representatives and for our nation.”

Osteen has authored books such as “Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential,” “Every Day a Friday Journal: How to Be Happier 7 Days a Week” and “Become a Better You: 7 Keys to Improving Your Life Every Day” among many others.

“I want to encourage the presence of staff and interns in the House gallery to show Pastor Osteen our appreciation for his service as guest Chaplain and for his great leadership,” Rushing added.

We hope his next best-seller will be “How to Make Congress Work: Budgeting for America in 7 Simple Steps.”
