As the nation grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic and prepares for a Thanksgiving holiday like no other, D.C. appears relatively quiet and normal — with a bit of perspective.

The U.S. Capitol and National Mall are seen from the top of the viewing platform at the Washington Monument on Monday. The top of the famous memorial to George Washington stands 500 feet above the city.
