Word on the Hill: Red Carpet for Reagan

Ronald Reagan and Bill O’Reilly are bringing celebrities to Washington.

The National Geographic Channel’s TV-movie, “Killing Reagan,” based on the book by its producer, O’Reilly, has its red carpet world premiere tonight.

Celebrities Tim Matheson from “The West Wing,” who plays the 40th prsident, and Cynthia Nixon from “Sex and the City,” who plays Nancy Reagan, will be in attendance. The movie explores the events surrounding the 1981 assassination attempt on Reagan.

Look out for the red carpet outside the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) at 6:15 p.m.

It premieres on TV on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m.

Khan in town

Khizr Khan, father of the late U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan who was killed in Iraq in 2004, is coming to the Georgetown Law School for a conversation with moderator Neal Katyal. The event takes place at 2:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium (600 New Jersey Ave. NW) and is co-sponsored by the Student Bar Association, Georgetown Law Democrats, the Muslim Law Students Association and the Georgetown student chapter of the American Constitution Society.

Johnson recognized by anti-drug group

The Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America is honoring Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio, for his work on combatting substance abuse. The group hosts their 18th annual Drug-Free Kids Campaign Awards Dinner at 6 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton (1150 22nd St. NW).

D.C. cultural event of the day

Fringe Performance over Projection, also known as Fringe POP, hosts their inaugural D.C. event, which pairs short films with 10-minute plays. The performance opens today at 8 p.m. and repeats on Saturday at 2 p.m., and on Sunday at 8 p.m. It takes place at the Trinidad Theatre (1358 Florida Ave. NE) and tickets are $25.
