McConnell: Supreme Court Vacancy Will ‘Not Be Filled This Year’

 

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters he and other Senate Republican leaders met with President Barack Obama for about an hour earlier in the day Tuesday, reiterating to the president that they will not hold a hearing for his Supreme Court nominee.

“[We] made it clear we don’t intend to take up a nominee or to have a hearing. It was a good opportunity to reiterate our view that this appointment should be made by the next president.”
