Donald Trump is getting  help  with his anemic fundraising from beer giant Pete Coors and former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.
Coors, the former CEO of the Coors Brewing Company, has been a major donor in Colorado politics but his record is a spotty one. He has backed some losing candidates, including in the 2016 presidential race.
According to Federal Election Commission reports, Coors gave $5,000 to Leadership Matters for America, a super PAC that backed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is now backing Trump. He also gave $5,000 to Right to Rise, which backed former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Coors also gave generously to Rep. Ken Buck's failed Senate campaign in 2010 and to his successful 2014 House race. He also gave to the campaign of former Sen. John Ashcroft, who infamously lost to Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan after Carnahan died in a plane crash.

Coors has also gotten it right at times, being a booster of Cory Gardner's 2010 congressional bid and an early backer of his successful bid for the Senate in 2014. He has also backed numerous incumbent senators and members of Congress in and out of Colorado such as former Rep. Tom Tancredo, who was famous for his anti-immigration rhetoric long before Trump.
