Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that he believes Bernie Sanders has accepted Hillary Clinton as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Bernie Sanders on Thursday vowed to fight on through the Democratic convention in July, but signaled he will join the party in its efforts to defeat presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.

"We will continue doing everything we can" to advocate for the issues he has made a hallmark of his campaign, he said after an Oval Office meeting with President Barack Obama, promising to "take" those issues to the convention.

President Barack Obama congratulated Hillary Clinton for securing the delegates necessary to claim the Democratic presidential nomination.

"Her historic campaign inspired millions and is an extension of her lifelong fight for middle-class families and children,” Obama said in a statement late on Tuesday after speaking with Clinton by phone.
