Former McCain Fundraiser Pleads Not Guilty to Meth, Abuse Charges

A former fundraiser for Sen. John McCain ’s re-election bid and her boyfriend have pleaded not guilty in Arizona on multiple charges related to child abuse and drug possession.  

The Arizona Republic reported that Emily Orme Pitha, 34, and her boyfriend, Christopher Allen Hustrulid, 36, were arrested for allegedly running a meth lab in her north-central Phoenix home.

President Barack Obama granted clemency to 20 people Wednesday in a relatively rare show of leniency from him — with the administration promising more to come.  

Obama cut short prison times for eight people convicted of nonviolent drug offenses and vacated the convictions of 12 others, the White House announced.
