Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took his disdain for Sen. Ted Cruz to a new level on Friday.
Trump said in an event thanking volunteers at the Republican National Convention that not only does he not want Cruz's endorsement, he might even try to derail any future Cruz has in Republican presidential politics.
[ GOP Civil War Gets More Uncivil ] "If he gives it, I won't accept it," Trump said. "It won't matter."
Trump said that Cruz failed in his attempt to divide the party and it killed any future he has in Republican politics.
"Maybe I will set up a super PAC if he decides to run," Trump said.
The Texas senator refused to endorse Trump during his speech before the convention on Wednesday. Cruz said in his speech , “vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom, and to be faithful to the constitution.”
He also refused to back down in an address to the Texas delegation on Thursday, telling them, “I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father,” he said. “And that pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack Heidi that I’m going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog.”
