Sarah Palin to Stump in New Jersey on Saturday

Sarah Palin will hit the campaign stump on Saturday ahead of next week’s New Jersey Senate special election.

Palin, a Fox News contributor and former Alaska governor, will join underdog Republican nominee Steve Lonegan for a rally at the New Egypt Speedway. The Lonegan campaign announced the news Wednesday night, when Lonegan and Newark Mayor Cory Booker engaged in their final debate ahead of the Oct. 16 special.

Hoping for a boost in this Democrat-leaning state, Lonegan said in a statement that he is “proud to have the opportunity to stand next to a great conservative leader who should have been the Vice President.”

Booker has been favored to win throughout the campaign and led by 12 points in a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

Booker and Lonegan are vying for the seat of the late Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg.
