DNC Announces Hiring and Training Initiatives

One will match volunteers with the right campaign and the other will focus on organizing organizers

The Democratic National Committee announced two new initiatives to hire and train organizers for the 2018 midterm elections.

The first initiative, called the DNC Talent Bank, will allow anyone interested in working on a campaign to submit their resume and fill out a questionnaire to be matched with an appropriate campaign.

“We would be working with state parties where capacity is needed,” a DNC aide said.

But while the aide said there would be people hired to specific campaigns in certain states, “we want to put people on the ground not just on one campaign but up and down the ticket.”

The committee also announced two “Organize to Win” day-long training sessions that will give attendees insights into campaign strategy.

“Additionally, these trainings seek to connect individuals directly with organizing opportunities in targeted races, engage and empower partners as co-hosts and equip individuals with an organizing foundation to win this November,” a DNC memo reads.

The first event will be in Minneapolis on July 14 and a second will be in Salt Lake City on July 21. Three more are scheduled to take place in the West, Midwest and South.

The aide said the events will also push to hire as many diverse recruits as possible.

“We are actively encouraging diversity and diverse candidates,” the aide said. “We want to build that pipeline and have that relationship.”
