Senate Majority PAC, a super PAC that backs Senate Democrats, on Wednesday released its second ad attacking Sen. Kelly Ayotte, the New Hampshire Republican who is a top target in 2016.
The 30-second spot, which runs through Sept. 17, blasts Ayotte for "helping the Washington special interests, not you," charging the freshman Republican with supporting tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.
Republican groups, on the other hand, have spent more than $2 million attacking Gov. Maggie Hassan — who Democrats hope will challenge Ayotte in 2016. Hassan is still mulling whether to run , a decision she's put on hold as she deals with an impasse in the state legislature over the budget.
The New Hampshire Senate race will be key to which party controls the Senate. Democrats must net five seats to gain the majority in the Senate. And since New Hampshire voted for President Barack Obama twice, Democrats say the state is ripe for a pick-up in 2016.
