The Federal Election Commission has announced  civil penalties for campaign finance violations by the committees of a current U.S. Senator, a former presidential candidate, and a New York corporation.  

The campaign committee of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand , D-N.Y., and its treasurer, have agreed to pay a $8,000 civil penalty for failing to disclose accurately $12,124 in receipts and $229,479 in disbursements in ten disclosure reports filed during the 2010 and 2012 election cycles. MUR 6757 .  

The presidential campaign committee of Republican Herman Cain , the Friends of Herman Cain Inc., and its treasurer, have agreed to pay a $19,000 civil penalty for receiving prohibited, excessive, and other impermissible contributions totaling $186,872 for the 2012 primary and general elections, which were not remedied within the permissible timeframes. ADR 665 .  

Evan H. Snapper , the former principal at the New York accounting firm of Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP, has agreed to pay a $65,000 civil penalty for using funds from a former client to reimburse contributions made by others to three campaigns. Patricia Cornwell, the former client, will pay a $6,500 civil penalty. The contributions included $4,600 to the 2007 presidential campaign of Republican James Gilmore; $9,200 to his 2007 senatorial campaign; and $48,300 to the presidential campaign of Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2008. MUR 6454 .
