Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., has HOH covered with intel on what members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee are doing in Alaska.

On Monday, the committee held a field hearing on energy technology innovation, deployment and opportunities for Alaska’s energy future. On the way to the hearing in Bethel, Alaska, Daines showed Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; John Barrasso, R-Wyo.; Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.; Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.l; Angus King, I-Maine and Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz via Snapchat. Moniz testified at the hearing.

Daines showed the five senators jammed into a car in Bethel and then listening to people speak Yupik, the native language. The group drove down the ice on a frozen river to get to Oscarville, Alaska, followed by a motorcade.

Alaska Gov. Bill Walker spoke to a roomful of schoolchildren, according to the snap, then the senators were entertained with a native dance and posters made by the children.

Daines zoomed in on the “trout croakies” around Moniz’s neck and captioning in a frame of his snap, “You know you’re in Alaska when …”

The group participated in the field hearing, which Daines showed a frame of, and left from there for Anchorage.

The senator also snapped his trip to the Republican retreat in January. Follow along with him at the username “SteveDaines.”
