The Democratic National Committee announced Thursday its 2016 convention will be held in Philadelphia.

The convention is scheduled to start July 25, a week after the Republican National Convention in Cleveland .

“I am thrilled to announce that Philadelphia will host the convention where we will nominate the 4th of the United States,” said DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a statement. “In addition to their commitment to a seamless and safe convention, Philadelphia’s deep rooted place in American history provides a perfect setting for this special gathering. I cannot wait to join Democrats across the country to celebrate our shared values, lay out a Democratic vision for the future, and support our nominee.”

Philadelphia beat out Brooklyn and Columbus, Ohio, to become the location where Democrats will officially nominate their presidential candidate.
