Parker Hamilton Poling will serve as executive director of the National Republican Congressional Committee for the 2020 cycle.

She most recently served as chief of staff to North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry, the chief deputy whip during the 115th Congress.

Newly elected NRCC chairman Tom Emmer made the announcement Thursday morning.

“Winning the majority depends on implementation of our game plan and ensuring every member of our team is motivated. We need a leader in the building who will hold all of us accountable,” the Minnesota Republican said in a statement.

“Sharp, experienced, hardworking and selfless, Parker is a well-known commodity among our members and their staff,” Emmer added.

Poling is a veteran of the House Education and Workforce Committee and worked in the George W. Bush White House before that as special assistant to the director of media affairs, according to her LinkedIn profile. She graduated from Brown University and received her law degree from George Washington University. It was while she was in law school that McHenry asked her to be his chief, according to Politico’s “Women to Watch” list. Poling had been executive director of the College Republican National Committee while McHenry was treasurer.

“I am thankful to Chairman Emmer and the entire Republican leadership for entrusting me with this responsibility as we work to regain the majority in 2020,” Poling said in a statement from the NRCC.

Poling takes over from John Rogers, who served as executive director during the 2018 cycle and worked at the committee for three cycles before that.
