The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is hitting the airwaves in four additional House races to defend Republicans in competitive contests.
The television ads, shared first with Roll Call, are part of a slate of positive issue spots boosting GOP incumbents in races from Maine to California.
Each of the seven ads is backed by a six-figure media buy, according to a Chamber spokeswoman. The ads will run on broadcast and cable networks as well as online.
The four new ads launching Wednesday are positive spots on Republican Reps. French Hill of Arkansas, Steve Knight of California, Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania and John Katko of New York. The Chamber also rolled out ads Tuesday boosting Reps. Bruce Poliquin of Maine, Will Hurd of Texas and Rob Woodall of Georgia.
The ads focused on Woodall, Hill, Knight and Kelly highlight the lawmakers’ votes to support a tax overhaul. Knight is the only one of those four who is running in a district that Hillary Clinton carried in 2016.
The spots on Hurd, Katko and Poliquin highlight issues specific to their districts and areas in which they broke with their party. Clinton carried Hurd and Katko’s districts in 2016, while Poliquin’s Maine district backed President Donald Trump.
Poliquin’s ad notes that he is opposed to tariffs that could affect trade in Maine’s 2nd District. The narrator in Hurd’s spot says the two-term Texas lawmaker stands up to his party on immigration, a top issue in the majority-Hispanic 23rd District. And the ad for Katko in New York’s 24th District notes that he has worked on bipartisan health care proposals.
