Florida Republican criticized media for coverage of Trump

Sen. Marco Rubio has been the subject of mockery for the third consecutive day on Twitter for his comments defending President Donald Trump.

The Twitterverse criticized the Florida Republican on Friday for saying there was so much profanity in news stories.

“Sign of our times… the F word is now routinely used in news stories, tweets etc It’s not even F*** anymore,” he tweeted Friday. “Who made that decision???”

Immediately, Rubio was mocked. Weekly Standard reporter Haley Byrd noted Rubio is a major fan of rap music, which includes a ton of f-bombs.

Others pointed out that Rubio openly supports Trump, who famously said he would “bomb the s—” out of countries and was caught on tape bragging about grabbing women’s genitals.

Still others, such as the popular Twitter page “I F—— Love Science” took a different approach and said swearing can be therapeutic.

Friday was the third consecutive day Rubio was mocked on Twitter for his media criticism.

On Wednesday, he tweeted a story from Axios showing 92 percent of Republicans think most news outlets intentionally report fake stories.

Rubio said many Republicans refuse to criticize the president despite their disagreements because “it means siding with a media that nevers [sic] cuts him a break, turns even little things he does into an act of evil, are also unfair to them & in the end will still attack you anyway.”

California Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu, himself a prolific tweeter, responded by tweeting that Trump’s family separation policy “is, actually, evil.”

Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau noted that when Rubio ran against Trump for president, the Florida senator called him a “con man” who couldn’t be trusted with nuclear weapons.

Rubio’s former campaign adviser and neoconservative Trump critic Max Boot said it was “not an excuse for political cowardice.”

Rubio doubled down on his remarks Thursday, saying the “usual suspects” criticized his tweet and either “proved the point or missed it.”

“Many in the media & Trump bashers are not self aware enough to realize how biased & dishonest a very large % of GOP voters & officeholders view them & the impact it has,” he said.

That drew even more criticism.
