Sen. John McCain asked his son-in-law over the weekend to “take care of” his daughter as he continues to receive treatment for complications connected to glioblastoma, a potent form of brain cancer.
“John hugged me tonight. He asked me to take care of Meghan. I said I would,” political pundit Ben Domenech, who is married to the Arizona Republican’s daughter Meghan McCain, tweeted Saturday.
Domenech, who publishes the conservative-funded online magazine the Federalist, deleted the tweet shortly after.
McCain was discharged from the hospital in stable condition last week after having surgery for an intestinal infection, a common side effect during recovery from brain cancer treatment.

A tweet last week from his wife, Cindy, indicated he was spending time at his ranch to convalesce.
The six-term senator was diagnosed with glioblastoma last July after doctors discovered a tumor during surgery to remove a blood clot above his left eye.
McCain returned to Congress later that month in time to strike down the narrow Senate GOP majority’s first attempt at enacting a sweeping health care overhaul proposal — an effort McCain thwarted again in September when he opposed an updated partisan bill from GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy.
