An issue advocacy organization with close ties to House Republican leadership is launching a half-million-dollar national television campaign Monday to provide cover to GOP lawmakers back home in their districts over recess.

In the new ad, the American Action Network touts the GOP health care plan, which narrowly passed the House last week, and thanks Speaker Paul D. Ryan for his leadership. The ad will air during MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Fox News’ “Fox and Friends,” and locally in Wisconsin’s 1st District, home to the speaker.

“Speaker Ryan’s leadership was second to none in ensuring the ACA was repealed and replaced with a plan that will help lower premiums, provide more choices, and protect people with pre-existing conditions,” AAN executive director Corry Bliss said in a statement, referring to the 2010 health care law by its abbreviation. “We have a responsibility to share that message far and wide, and at AAN, we will continue to do that.”

The network has spent more than $10 million in 110 districts promoting a GOP health care plan. After last week’s vote, the group announced it would spend $2 million on TV in 21 districts to tout the plan.

This new national campaign is in addition to that previously announced targeted buy. The ad begins by calling the GOP bill a “bold plan” that will result in “job-creating tax relief” and protect people with pre-existing conditions.

“Thank Paul Ryan and House Republicans for keeping their word and fighting for the health care we deserve,” the ad concludes.

The National Republican Congressional Committee is up with a digital ad with a similar message that thanks GOP members for keeping their campaign promise to repeal the 2010 law. Democrats, meanwhile, have been ramping up their own ad campaigns on health care. Immediately after last week’s vote, the Democratic campaign committees launched digital ads, targeting even Republicans who hadn’t voted for the bill. The liberal advocacy group Save My Care debuted a six-figure buy in 24 districts Monday.
