A new ad from a Democratic super PAC pushing for a special prosecutor to investigate possible ties between President Donald Trump and Russia is directed toward millennial women.
American Bridge 21st Century is releasing a series of videos chronicling various Trump aides’ ties to Russia.
On Tuesday the super PAC released a video featuring former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. The video shows that Manafort worked with former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The ad points out that Manafort resigned shortly after a New York Times report that showed he had received $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments for his work with Yanukovich.
Manafort would later be replaced by both former Breitbart CEO Steve Bannon and campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, both of whom are now top Trump advisers in the White House.
On Friday, the House Intelligence Committee announced that Manafort would testify before the committee. It is still undetermined if the hearing will be open.
After chronicling various other ties between Manafort and Russia, the ad says “We need an independent special prosecutor to investigate these ties between Russia and the Trump campaign.”
The super PAC’s previous video targeted Trump confidante Roger Stone, who worked with Manafort at a consulting firm.
Sabrina Singh, a spokeswoman for American Bridge, did not disclose the amount of money spent on the ad, but did say it is targeted women between the ages of 18 and 35.
A recentQuinnipiac poll found that 69 percent of women and 65 percent of white women support an independent commission investigating the links between the Russian government and Trump campaign associates.
“Russia’s potential influence over our president and his aides puts us all at risk,” Singh said in a statement. “We need a special prosecutor investigating this scandal immediately.”
