Democratic National Committee CEO Amy Dacey resigned Tuesday in the aftermath of an email leak scandal that showed staff members for the national party favored one presidential candidate over another.
The DNC also announced the resignation of communications director Luis Miranda and Chief Financial Officer Brad Marshall.
The resignations come after the July 22 release of nearly 20,000 emails by the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks; some of the emails hinted at favoritism toward former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in her Democratic primary campaign against Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Marshall had come under criticism after an email questioned Sanders’ Jewish faith and suggested painting him as an atheist. Marshall later apologized.
The resignations follow the departure of chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Longtime Democratic strategist Donna Brazile took over as interim DNC chairwoman after the conclusion of last week’s party convention in Philadelphia.
