Rep. Takai Takes it to Lee, Hoyer in Roll Call Bracket

Hawaii Rep. Mark Takai filled out Roll Call’s traditional March Madness bracket on Tuesday and called out his friendly colleagues Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., and Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md.  

In a Facebook post , he congratulated the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team for making it into the tournament. Takai represents the school in his district and it’s also his alma mater. In the first round, Hawaii is playing California, Berkeley and Takai wrote on Facebook, “First up, we are playing Rep. Barbara Lee’s California Golden Bears, and after that, we will hopefully be facing Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer’s University of Maryland Terrapins.”  

Wishing the team luck, he tagged Hawaii’s coach Eran Ganot, athletic director David A. K. Matlin, a fellow Hawaii alumnus.  

As for other Hill bracket picks, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s, R-Calif., communications director Mike Long chose Rep. John Katko, R-N.Y., and Syracuse to win the tournament.  

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., showed her support for the University of Miami’s basketball team.
