Senate Democrats are wearing #InTheRed pins on Tuesday to advocate for reducing college costs and student debt.  

The goal of the campaign is for Congress to address college affordability in 2016. Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.; Sens. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y.; and Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., and six others are bringing students as their guests to President Barack Obama’s last State of the Union.  

Organized by the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, Schumer said in a statement, “I am launching this campaign today to encourage students and parents and student loan debt holders to share their stories so we can finally force Congress to comprehensively address the issue of college affordability, which is key to the ongoing success of our economy.”  

On the floor during the Senate vote to audit the Federal Reserve, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., was wearing her pin.  

Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., stood with her and reminded her to take the pin off, to which Warren mentioned being a professor and put it away in her pocket.  

Lawmakers are using Twitter to spread the message and other expected pin-wearers include Sens. Mark Warner, D-Va.; Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.; Ron Wyden, D-Ore.; Bob Casey, D-Pa.; Martin Heinrich, D-N.M.; Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii; Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis.; Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I.; and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.
