The Senate Budget Committee is mourning the untimely death of one of its staffers, Adam Kamp.

Kamp, 30, had been the committee’s chief clerk since February 2014, and he was recognized by Chairman Michael B. Enzi of Wyoming for his contributions to shepherding the new GOP majority’s budget resolution through the legislative process.

On Monday, Enzi and ranking member Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., issued a rare joint statement about the loss.

“Adam was a crucial member of the Budget Committee team and played a vital role in the Committee’s smooth and efficient operation. From our regular hearings to our marathon two-day markup of the budget resolution earlier this year, Adam ensured that members could focus on the issues without having to worry about anything else,” Enzi and Sanders said. “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Committee are with Adam’s family during this difficult time.”

Kamp had previously worked for the Budget panel as a staff assistant, as well as for the Senate Ethics Committee, specializing in financial disclosures. His LinkedIn profile also notes a stint working at Fort Belvoir at the Defense Logistics Agency in 2012.

The circumstances of his death were not immediately made available.
