Erik Telford, president of the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity and publisher of Watchdog.org, and Kristine Esposo, senior director at The Herald Group, were married on Oct. 31 at Saint Peter’s on Capitol Hill Catholic Church.

The two met in typical Washington, D.C., fashion: networking for a job reference. Esposo received an email from a sorority sister asking her to put in a good word for Telford, who was applying for a job at Americans for Prosperity, the organization where she had recently interned.

Esposo said she “didn’t know any better” and sent a note to her former boss endorsing a person she had never met. Telford got the job, and several years later they met in person at a conference, which led to coffee, and then a bocce team, and finally a relationship.

The newlyweds celebrated after the ceremony with a reception at The Hamilton where attendees danced to music provided by The Bachelor Boys Band while feasting on a duet of filet mignon and roasted chicken and late night snacks of sriracha fried mac and cheese bites and cheeseburger sliders. For wedding favors, they passed out trick-or-treat bags filled with candy.

Groomsman Guy Benson of Fox News and Townhall.com toasted the couple, which included an impression of Donald Trump.

Guests included: Jack Fowler, National Review; Rachel Kopec, Republican Study Committee; Mike Lurie, Freedom Partners; Suhail Kahn, Microsoft; Christine Mussler, Architect of the Capitol; Ed McFadden, Verizon; Greg Mueller, CRC Public Relations; and Phil Kerpen, American Commitment, all of whom watched the bride and groom take their first dance to Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

The couple is planning a December honeymoon in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
