A drunk man wearing nothing but his undies added to the mayhem that engulfed Capitol Hill on Oct. 8, the day House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy pulled out of the speaker race.

At 7:24 p.m. on that clear Thursday evening, a Capitol Police officer posted on the Lower West Terrace spotted a 38-year-old white male running up the stairs of the Capitol “clothed in only underwear,” according to an arrest report. Police said the man disobeyed multiple commands to stop, but he didn’t escape the 31-year-old cop. The officer “detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from” the nearly nude perp during the arrest.

By 7:30 p.m., relative calm returned, according to the report.

Police transported the man to headquarters. He was charged with unlawful entry.
