Updated 11:15 p.m. | Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has invited fellow presidential candidate Donald Trump to participate in a rally outside the Capitol against the international nuclear agreement with Iran.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 9, on the Capitol’s West Lawn, according to a statement from Jenny Beth Martin of the Tea Party Patriots. Martin’s organization is one of the groups Cruz’s campaign identified ad behind the event.

Trump, the businessman and reality TV star currently leading GOP polls, has accepted the invite to the event with the Texas Republican, having made reference to it while speaking Thursday in Greenville, S.C.

“Sen. Cruz has invited Donald Trump to join him on the Capitol grounds for a rally to call on members of Congress to defeat the catastrophic deal that the Obama Administration has struck with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The event will be sponsored by Tea Party Patriots, Center for Security Policy, and the Zionist Organization of America,” Cruz’s campaign said in a statement provided to CQ Roll Call. “We are thankful for all their hard work on this effort and will have more details on time, date, and location as they are finalized.”

There was no immediate word on other lawmakers, including GOP presidential candidates, who might participate.

“On the heels of our successful day of activism with supporters, during which protests urging Congress to disapprove of the dangerous Iran Nuclear Deal were held at 185 different local congressional and senatorial offices across the country, we look forward to our next round of protests on September 9 on the West Lawn of the Capitol,” Martin said.

The Senate is set to consider a resolution of disapproval with respect to the P5+1 agreement with Iran when the Senate returns, though Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tenn., has conceded he suspects Democrats will have the votes to sustain a veto from President Barack Obama.
