Administration officials have made it very clear that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not get to press the flesh with President Barack Obama before or after Tuesday’s politically charged appearance on Capitol Hill. But, thanks to congressional spouse Elizabeth Roskam, Bibi won’t be going home completely empty-handed.  

The wife of Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., has prepared a gift for the polarizing world leader: A shadowy still life of the Capitol Dome. The artist has dubbed it “Dome of Consequence.”  

A Roskam aide said Elizabeth Roskam met Netanyahu in 2010 during a trip she took to Israel with her five-term hubby. As soon as she heard Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, had extended an invitation to have the foreign dignitary address both chambers of Congress, Elizabeth broke out her paints and began to conjure a keepsake landscape.  

According to Team Roskam, the ardent artist has gifted intimate pieces to visiting leaders in the past, including a picture she presented to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko last fall . Staff said she has also painted pictures for South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  

Folks around these parts can admire Elizabeth’s work via the calendars Roskam’s office now freely distributes around the congressional campus.
