Foreign Military Sales Offer Small Business Opportunities

Johanna Royo writes in the Fayetteville Observer : “Did you know that Panama didn’t have an economic recession like we did? I know this because an export expert told me and also because my in-laws exported themselves there for retirement and reported back firsthand. The state of Panama’s economy matters because it represents potential customers for North Carolina’s defense-related businesses. And foreign military customers matter because the U.S. military is downsizing. That’s not necessarily bad for contractors, but in the words of N.C. Military Business Center Executive Director Scott Dorney: ‘With the U.S. market changing, not shrinking, but changing, it’s an area of interest.'”

“Combing through government contract awards, it seems ‘… under the foreign military sales program’ pops up more frequently in recent months.”

“Mike Allocca, the 20-year export expert and trainer, says foreign military sales are and have been good business for small companies.”
