The Wall St. Journal reports that “the U.S. military characterized Monday’s successful hacking attack on two of its social media sites as an ’embarrassment’ that has sparked a broader security review of how it handles Twitter , YouTube and its broader outreach to the public.”

Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman “compared the attack to a rock thrown through a window, or to someone spray painting on the walls.”

The piece continues: “In response to the hack, the U.S. military ordered scores of people running social media accounts to change their passwords and take tougher steps to protect the security. The top cyber officials at U.S. Central Command have been looking at how the hack occurred and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is also exploring who was behind the attack.”
