“Although I have been playing a CIA operative on TV, this is my first real walk through the halls of Congress, and I am excited,” the faux-intelligence operative, who first burst into the public consciousness as a drink-slinging, table top-stomping, karaoke savant in “Coyote Ugly,” told HOH. A member of the newly aligned Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Perabo is lending her voice to the AFL-CIO’s Raising the Wage initiative — an ongoing campaign designed to champion worker’s rights on a national scale.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., helped rally the troops Wednesday morning at neighboring Gallaudet University. “The AFL-CIO National Summit on Raising Wages was attended by more than 300 progressive activists and union leaders, and was seen by thousands more through online live-stream video,” organizers trumpeted in a release.

Perabo said she planned to devote her time to huddling with peers and pols alike. “My top agenda [item] is talking to other union and nonunion workers about how we can raise wages, but I also plan to visit several congressional offices to talk more generally about artists’ issues,” she shared.

Her wranglers declined to identify which offices Perabo would be popping into, but they did say bipartisan meetings were part of the plan.

The AFL-CIO, meanwhile, will be taking the fight to the states via Raising the Wage summits scheduled to take place in Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina — AKA, presidential primary country — later this year.
