Beverage slingers are raising their glasses to Reps. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., and Linda T. Sánchez, D-Calif., for being so darn agreeable.  

The House lawmakers have been named the 2014 Congressional Bipartisanship Honorees by Constellation Brands. According to an organizer for a Beer Institute-hosted event that will fete the duo, the two got the nod  “for their willingness to engage constructively and respectfully with members of the opposing party.”  

A commendable trait, to be sure — even if their respective voting records don’t seem to reflect said open-mindedness. Amodei was most supportive of President Barack Obama’s policies — backing the administration nearly one-quarter of the time — in 2011. That assistance has waned in recent years; Amodei has voted in opposition to POTUS 90 percent of the time since January.  

Sánchez crossed party lines just 15 percent of the time during President George W. Bush’s tenure. She’s been a much more reliable cheerleader for Obama, standing behind the 44th POTUS roughly 90 percent of the time (she wavered a bit in 2011, dialing back her enthusiasm to 83 percent), while voting with House Democrats 98.6 percent of the time over the last decade.  

Of course, there’s no telling how friendly everyone will get once they get a few drinks in them at the Beer Institute’s invite-only shindig on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.  

Reps. Peter T. King, R-N.Y., and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, were recognized for their collaborative efforts in 2013, while Reps. Danny K. Davis, D-Ill., and Peter Roskam, R-Ill., shared the honors in 2012.
