How Congressmen Used to Golf in the 1970s
Today is the annual First Tee Congressional Challenge and Roll Call photojournalists and reporters were on scene to document the snappy golf wear by current members of Congress. This caused Capitol Lens to dig into the archives to see how congressmen from years past enjoyed the sport and the competition among other members and colleagues. It appears congressional golf tournaments have taken many forms through the years. Written on pictures from the ’70s and ’80s in the Roll Call archive, the “CSC Golf Tournament” was identified to take place in Reston, Va.
Today’s First Tee Congressional Challenge, which benefits the First Tee charitable organization, takes place at the Columbia Country Golf Club in Chevy Chase, Md. Watch Roll Call for upcoming coverage of the outcome of today’s tournament.
