Okay, are you stumped yet? Last week, we posted  the trivia questions from our Taste of America  Roll Call kickoff party .  

The winners (“Team Linked” — Oscar Santillana, Emma Chaiken, Linda Santiago, Amanda Kaster and Chris Averill) scored 12 points.  

Here are the answers, did you beat them?  

ROUND 1  

   

Q: What took the Taste of America honors in 2013?  

A: West Virginia’s pepperoni roll  

   

Q: When is the Taste of America winner announced?  

A: There will be four rounds of voting and the winner will be announced at a reception at Nationals’ Park before the 53rd annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game  on June 25.  

   

Q: Where do you vote?

Q: Ninety percent of the nation’s avocados come from this state?  

A: California  

   

Q: Which two members of Congress have won the lottery?  

A: Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., and Rep. Kevin McCarthy R-Calif., both have won the lottery. Sensenbrenner put his $250,000 toward charities and investments; McCarthy invested the $5,000 from his scratch-off ticket to open “Kevin O’s Deli.” (Also acceptable: former Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H.)  

   

Bonus question: On average, how many beers do each legal-aged American drink per day? (½ a beer, 1 beer, 1 ½ beers, or 2 beers?)

Q: Which former American Idol contestant won an election — maybe?  

A: Clay Aiken    

Q: Name the district and member he is trying to unseat.  

A: North Carolina, 2nd congressional District. He is trying to unseat GOP Rep. Renee Ellmers.  

   

Q: This food was introduced at the Texas State Fair sometime between 1938 and 1942.  

A: The corn dog.  

   

Q: Which senator was born in Washington, D.C.?  

A: Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J.  

   

Q: Who was the only president to be subsequently elected to the House?  

A: John Quincy Adams.  

   

Bonus question: Which president had a brewery?  

A: George Washington  

   

ROUND 3  

Q: Which member of Congress was born in Baltimore and is a mayor’s daughter?  

A: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.  

   

Q: What is that lawmaker’s favorite food?  

A: Chocolate.  

   

Q: What is an apigigi?  

A: Former Taste of America winner  from the Northern Mariana Islands. It is a sweet tamale — coconut meat wrapped in banana leaf.  

   

Q: Which member of Congress built his own “off the grid” house that gets its electricity from solar panels, geothermal sources and other means?  

A: Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.  

   

Q: Name all Elite Eight from last year’s competition.  

A: Pepperoni roll from West Virginia (winner). Iowa bacon, Arizona chimichangas, Illinois Italian beef, Maryland crab cakes, South Carolina shrimp and grits, Oregon pear tarts and Georgia peach cobbler.  

   

Bonus question: What percentage of beer drinkers identify themselves as Republicans?  

A: 40 percent  

(40 percent of beer drinkers also identify themselves as Democrats, and 19 percent identify themselves as independent.)
