Democrats may have 99 problems heading into the midterms — but for some members, creative fundraising ain’t one.

At least a dozen House Democrats will raise money at sporting events and concerts between January and March, including an upcoming Jay-Z performance at the Verizon Center, according to a fundraising schedule obtained by CQ Roll Call.

Rep. André Carson of Indiana, a “battle” MC in his youth, will charge donors $1,500 to $2,500 to attend the Jay Z concert with him later this month.

In March, a joint Paul Simon and Sting show at the Verizon Center will play host to three more fundraisers. Vulnerable Democratic Rep. Ami Bera of California, as well as Reps. Gwen Moore of Wisconsin and Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, have scheduled fundraisers at that event.

Other members have scheduled events while their hometown teams play the Washington Wizards.

Reps. Patrick Murphy of Florida, Frederica S. Wilson of Florida, and Hakeem Jeffries of New York will host individual fundraisers when the Miami Heat play the Wizards next week.

Rep. Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon will take donors to see the Wizards play the Portland Trail Blazers, and Joaquin Castro of Texas will host a fundraiser when the San Antonio Spurs play the Wizards in February.

Finally, Rep. Sander M. Levin, D-Mich., will host a fundraiser when his hometown Detroit Redwings play the Washington Capitals in February. Rep. Gerald E. Connolly of Virginia will host a top-dollar fundraiser when the Capitals take on the Winnipeg Jets.

Tickets to attend all these events range in price from $1,000 to $5,000, according to the rundown of fundraisers.
