Former Maryland GOP Chairman Alex Mooney has picked up the endorsement of the Family Research Council Action PAC in his bid for West Virginia’s 2nd District.

“Our economy has been decimated. The culture has been challenged beyond all reasonable limits,” FRC Action PAC Chairman Tony Perkins said in a Thursday news release. “The strong, conservative men and women elected in 2010 and 2012 need reinforcements. That is we are endorsing Alex Mooney in his run to represent West Virginia’s Second District.”

Mooney is one of several Republicans running in the May 13 primary. The likely Democratic nominee is former state party Chairman Nick Casey.

This is a race to replace Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican running for Senate. The race is rated Leans Republican by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
