David Jolly is leading in fundraising for the January 14th special Republican primary in Florida to fill the 13th Congressional District seat formerly held by the late Rep. C.W. Bill Young. In March, the winner will face a Democrat who reported a million dollar campaign account.

David Jolly, lobbyist and former aide to Young, reported his campaign raised $388,450 and disbursing $246,559 from October 1 to December 25, leaving $141,891 cash on hand, and $105,440 in debts. The candidate loaned his committee $50,000.

Individual donors to Jolly include $5,200 from Jeffrey Crilley (executive, Mortgage Investors Corp., FL); $5,200 from William Edwards (chairman, Mortgage Investors Corp., FL); $5,200 from Joanne Edwards (homemaker, FL); $2,600 from Evan Knisely (senior v.p., MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, DC); $2,600 from Gregory Lankler (govt. relations, Mercury LLC, MD); $500 from former Rep. Robert Livingston (govt. relations, Livingston Group, VA); $500 from Tom Quinn (govt. relations, Van Scoyoc Associates, DC); $5,200 from Mel Sembler (developer, Sembler Company, FL); $5,200 from Betty Sembler (homemaker, FL); $1,000 from H. Stewart Van Scoyoc (president, Van Scoyoc Associates, VA); among others.

PAC donors to Jolly included $5,000 from the American Society of anesthesiologists PAC; $2,000 from the Congressman Bill Young Campaign Committee; among others. In a later filing, Jolly’s campaign reported it received $1,000 from Lockheed Martin Employees PAC on 12/26.

State Representative Kathleen Peters, R-Fla., reported her campaign had receipts of $169,926 and disbursements of $152,377 from October 1 to December 25, leaving $17,550 cash on hand and $11,006 in debts.

Individual donors to Peters include Joseph Gaylord (government relations, FL) $1,000; David Black (CEO, Aegis Sciences Corporation, TN) $2,600; Susan Hirschmann (Williams & Jensen, VA) $500; Brenda Becker (Boston Scientific, VA) $250; among others. The candidate loaned her committee $10,000. PAC donors include $5,000 Value in Electing Women PAC;  among others. The leadership PACs of several members of Congress also contributed, including $2,000 from the PAC of Rep. Ann Wagner, R-Mo.; $1,000 from the PAC of Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn.; $1,000 from the PAC of Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kan.; and $2,000 from the PAC of Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C. In a later special filing, the Peters campaign reported the PAC of Rep. Martha Roby, R-Ala.m, gave $1,000 on 12/30.

Pilot Mark Bircher, R-Fla., reported his campaign had receipts of $58,444 and disbursements of $46,425 from October 1 to December 25, leaving $12,019 cash on hand and $23,000 in debts. The candidate gave $21,000 to his campaign committee and also loaned his committee $23,000.

The winner of the January 14th Republican special primary will face Democrat Alex Sink in the March 11th special general election. Sink reported her campaign had raised $1,143,276 and has $1,054,488 cash on hand as of 12/25. She received $300,700 from PACs and other committees. The committee spent only $88,787.
