Both House Campaign Committees Add to War Chests

In October, the month of the government shutdown, the Congressional campaign committees of both parties reported lower receipts than the previous month, but kept expenses in check and improved their cash balances. The Democratic committee raised $2.5 million more than the Republican committee.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reported receipts of $7,014,467 and disbursements of $3,320,708, leaving $25,266,707 cash on hand as of 10/31. Donors included people such as Georgia Angelos (attorney, MD) $32,400; and Diane Von Furstenberg (designer, NY) $32,400; among others.

The National Republican Congressional Committee 
reported it had receipts of $4,552,378 and disbursements of $1,996,086 in October, leaving $18,242,094 cash on hand as of 10/31. Donors included C. Koch (senior vice president, Koch Agronomic Services, KS) $32,400; Peter Coors (executive, Molson Coors Brewing Company, CO) $25,000; Charles Schwab (chairman, Charles Schwab & Company, CA) $32,400; among others.
