Chamber Hill Strategies, a government affairs firm specializing in health and tax policy, has hired Jennifer N. Higgins as a principal, the firm announced Thursday. A former principal at Tauzin Consultants with health care experience also at Capitol Health Group, the Marwood Group and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Higgins joins a firm that was launched in October 2012 by Michaela Sims and Jennifer Bell.

“We are thrilled Jenn is joining the firm. Few in DC can rival her combination of deep health care policy experience and political relationships,” Bell said in a statement announcing the hire. Chamber Hill also publishes a subscription service, PolicyCrush, that focuses on health developments.

ManattJones Global Strategies Gets New Boss

Michael C. Camunez, most recently assistant secretary of commerce for market access & compliance at the International Trade Administration, has joined Manatt, Phelps & Phillips as president of ManattJones Global Strategies. According to a notice provided by the firm, Camunez will focus primarily on Mexico and Latin America at the firm’s international consulting subsidiary.

Camunez, who also served as a commissioner on the U.S. Helsinki Commission, will also be a partner in the parent firm’s government & regulatory policy division and will be working in the firm’s Washington, Mexico City and Los Angeles offices. Before Camunez went to the Commerce Department, he was on the White House staff for President Barack Obama, having worked as special counsel to the president in the White House counsel’s office.

Former Derivatives Trader Joins Better Markets

Caitlin Kline, a former Credit Suisse derivatives trader, has joined Better Markets Inc., a nonprofit public interest group. Kline spent six years working for Credit Suisse and left the firm in 2011 and subsequently worked with Occupy the SEC and the Occupy Wall Street movement.

You may know Kline from her appearance in Frontline’s “Money, Power & Wall Street” documentary, in which she details her experience, and growing unease, about working on Wall Street, in the go-go years and the collapse of the derivatives and credit markets.

“Since leaving Wall Street in 2011, Ms. Kline has provided expert guidance to Congressional committees grappling with derivatives regulation and practice,” Better Markets President Dennis Kelleher said in a release announcing Kline’s hire this week. “At Better Markets, Ms. Kline’s expertise and experience will be major assets in the fight for strong, common sense and long-overdue reform of the U.S. and global financial markets,” he added.

Clark Bunting Parks It at National Parks Conservation Association

W. Clark Bunting, the former president and general manager of the Discovery Channel, will start his new gig as president and CEO of the nonprofit National Parks Conservation Association on Nov. 11. Bunting, who was with Discovery for almost three decades and helped develop some of its most iconic programming, such as Shark Week and the Crocodile Hunter, retired last year.

Bunting, whom the NPCA Board of Trustees announced was taking over earlier this week, has a long involvement with wildlife and conservation issues, having been affiliated with the Smithsonian National Zoo Advisory Board, the Ocean Conservancy and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, among others, over the years.

“His distinguished career as a businessman, as an innovator and his ability to reach and engage larger, diverse audiences make him uniquely qualified to lead NPCA and the national parks movement successfully into their second century,” NPCA Board Chairman Tom Secunda said in a statement.
