Zuckerberg Tracks Down Members of Congress for Immigration Ads

The discussion of immigration reform is shifting outside of Washington, D.C., as members of Congress have left town for a summer recess in their constituencies, but Mark Zuckerberg’s lobbying group is still putting its message right in front of them.

FWD.US, a lobbying group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs pushing for immigration reform, is starting a new round of advertising in the home states and districts of members of Congress. New filings at the Federal Communications Commission this morning show FWD.US has contracted for air time at WOFL, the Fox affiliate in Orlando, Fla.; KPNX, the NBC affiliate in Mesa, Ariz.; WLS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Chicago; WTVT, the Fox affiliate in Tampa, Fla.; and WFLA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Tampa, Fla.

FCC filings are only required from stations in the 50 largest media markets, and we expect more advertising has been purchased to run between now and Labor Day more states and districts, as well as on on cable and the Internet.

Americans for a Conservative Direction, another group funded by Zuckerberg, is also beginning a new round of ads aimed in the district of Rep. Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis.

UPDATE 8/12: More FWD.US media buys reported include KWAS in Dallas, Texas; WOAI in San Antonio, Texas; KSAT 12 TV in San Antonio, Texas; KHOU11 in Houston, Texas; KTRK the ABC affiliate in Houston, Texas; KEYE TV in Austin, Texas; and KPHO the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona.
