Another Super PAC Ad Targets Grimes #KYSEN
A Republican super PAC is taking another swipe on the airwaves at the Kentucky Democrat challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Kentuckians for Strong Leadership, which launched its first ad against Alison Lundergan Grimes on June 25, is up with a new ad tying the Kentucky secretary of state to President Barack Obama and the national party. The group spent $270,000 to run the spot statewide on cable and broadcast, according to a released statement.
“Obamacare; the war on coal; big spending; higher taxes. That’s Obama’s platform, and Alison Lundergan Grimes supports it,” says the ad’s announcer.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is jumping on the “obstruction” label it has attached to McConnell by launching targeted Facebook, Google and Twitter ads calling the incumbent the “guardian of gridlock.”
“It’s clear Mitch McConnell isn’t just part of the problem, he is the problem,” DSCC spokesman Justin Barasky said.
Grimes announced she would run against McConnell on July 1 and will officially kick off her campaign on July 30. The race represents one of Democrats’ best and only pickup opportunities of the cycle.
It is currently rated Republican Favored by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
