Sen. Bob Corker’s PAC Gives to 501(c)(4) American Future Fund

Rock City PAC, the leadership PAC of Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., reported it gave $10,000 on May 13 to the American Future Fund of Des Moines, Iowa. The American Future Fund is a Section 501(c)(4) nonprofit that advocates conservative free-market principles. In 2010, it spent more than $9 million on independent expenditures. In 2012, it paid for ads to benefit Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

In other filings for the second quarter:
Former Sen. Al D’Amato, R-N.Y., now lobbyist for his Park Strategies LLC, was reported by Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., to have bundled $30,000 in contributions for Pete King for Congress. The committee reported receipts of $247,246 and disbursements of $64,228, leaving $2,536,937 cash on hand as of 6/30.

Democratic candidate Nick Casey of West Virginia reported he had receipts of $452,452 in the second quarter, but $100,000 was contributed by the candidate, and he also loaned $200,000 more. He has $416,511 cash on hand. He is running for the seat held by Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., who is running for the U.S. Senate seat of Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., who is retiring.

Former Rep. Steven LaTourette, R-Ohio, has reported he gave $50,000 to the Cleveland State University Foundation on June 22. His committee still has $330,497 in cash on hand.

Former Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn., reported he has given $25,000 to the International Conservation Caucus Foundation on June 13. He also gave $17,200 to other nonprofits, including $5,000 to the University of Tennessee Foundation and $5,000 to the Atlantic Council.

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., reported she received $100,000 from six local level political organizations in May, including $30,000 from Wendy Greuel for Mayor 2013 and $25,000 from Mike Feuer for City Attorney 2013. Citizens for Waters has spent more than $75,000 on a slate mailer and received the funds as reimbursements. The committee cites Federal Election Commission Advisory Opinion 2004-37 as granting permission.
