Gary Peters Raises $1M for Senate Race #MISEN

Rep. Gary Peters has raised more than $1 million as a Senate candidate in Michigan, according to his campaign.

The Democrat will report having $1.8 million in the bank as of June 30, the end of the second fundraising quarter this year.

In the first three months of this year, Peters raised $373,000. Peters announced his entry into the race on May 1, a few weeks into the second fundraising quarter that started in April.

Democratic Sen. Carl Levin is retiring; Peters is expected to win the party nomination to fill his seat.

Former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is the only candidate in the GOP primary so far. She has yet to release her second quarter fundraising numbers, which are due to the Federal Election Commission by July 15.

GOP Rep. Justin Amash is still considering the race. He also has not released his fundraising figures yet.

Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., a national GOP favorite, turned down a primary bid last month.
