Rush Holt: ‘I’m No Cory Booker’ (Video)

Rep. Rush D. Holt of New Jersey says he’s “no Cory Booker” in an introductory video to launch his new Senate campaign website.

Booker, the mayor of Newark, is the heavy favorite in the four-candidate Democratic primary on Aug. 13. Holt’s video concedes that fact and attempts to explain why he would “run for Senate against Cory Booker.”

“I don’t have a million Twitter followers, I’ve never run into a burning building and I’m not friends with Mark Zuckerberg, though I did like him on Facebook,” says Holt, a rocket scientist. “I’m a teacher, a scientist, and my most famous moment was beating the computer in ‘Jeopardy.'”

After going through the programs and issues he’s fought for in Congress, Holt concludes the two-minute video by saying he’ll “beat Cory Booker and win this campaign the same way I beat Watson in ‘Jeopardy’ — one answer at a time.”

The other two Democrats running in the special election to fill the remaining term of the late Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg are Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. and state Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver. The winner will be favored against the Republican nominee in the Oct. 16 general election.
