Campaign Committees Pay Legal Fees for Members

The campaign committees of several members of Congress paid for legal advice and counseling during the first quarter of 2013.

The committee of Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) paid $60,000 to Patton Boggs LLP (DC) for legal fees; the committee of Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) paid $54,997 to Holland & Knight LLP (FL) for legal services; the committee of Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) paid $28,000 to Jay Goldenberg (NY) for legal fees; the committee of Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.) paid $21,521 to Patton Boggs LLP (DC) for legal counseling and $5,000 to Holland & Knight LLP (DC) for legal counseling; the committee of Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) paid $13,787 to Covington & Burling LLP (DC) for legal services and $1,215 to John Fogarty (IL) for legal services; the committee of Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) paid $9,000 to Wiley Rein LLP for legal services; the committee of Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) paid $6,209 to Brand Law Group (DC) for legal services and $1,956 to Perkins Coie (WA) for legal services; the committee of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) paid $8,000 to McGuireWoods LLP (VA) for legal consulting; the committee of Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.) paid $7,880 to Guy Parisi (NY) for legal services; the committee of Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.) paid $7,340 to Patton Boggs LLP (DC) for legal fees.
