Today at a Glance: April 11, 2013

The Senate votes at 11 a.m. to cut off debate on the motion to proceed to a bill that would require background checks on all firearm sales. If cloture is invoked, the chamber has up to 30 hours of debate until it can vote to proceed to the bill, though an agreement could be reached to yield back some of that time.

The House takes up a resolution that would provide for consideration of a measure that would prohibit the National Labor Relations Board from taking any action requiring a quorum or enforcing any decisions until it has a Senate-approved quorum, the Supreme Court rules the recess appointments to be constitutional or the current board’s term is over at the end of the 113th Congress.
