People on the Move: March 21, 2013

Jake Cornett has been hired as a legislative assistant for Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. Cornett was a staff member for the Democratic staff for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety. He also has served as a legislative fellow for Murray. He was a policy fellow at the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation and also has worked as a member of the faculty at SAM Schools.

Crystal Bridgeman has been hired as a senior education policy adviser on the Democratic staff for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. She was a senior policy adviser for the Democratic staff for the Senate HELP Subcommittee on Employment. Bridgeman also has worked as a staff member on that subcommittee. She was a management and program analyst at the IRS and a presidential management fellow through the Office of Personnel Management.

Carlos Sanchez has been hired as chief of staff to Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas. He was deputy press secretary and adviser in the leadership office of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. Sanchez also has served as press adviser in Pelosi’s leadership office. He also worked as communications director at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

Dale Kildee has been named a policy adviser at Ietan Consulting, which specializes in working on behalf of tribal governments. He also is joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as a senior consultant in its American Indian law and policy practice. Kildee served as a Democratic congressman representing Michigan. He founded the Congressional Native American Caucus.

Byron Johnson has been hired as a consultant for public relations and public affairs at lobbying firm Strategic Communications. Johnson was a senior account director and the director of marketing for public relations firm SevenTwenty Strategies. He has worked as a consultant for grass-roots advocacy at health insurance company Humana. He also has worked as a communications consultant at the Center for Community Change.

Shawn Donilon has been hired at the National Association of Broadcasters as director of government relations. Donilon was legislative director and counsel to former Rep. Charles Bass, R-N.H. He also worked as a legislative assistant for Bass.

Ken Schramko is the principal and founder of lobbying firm Brick Strategies. Schramko was the director of federal affairs at lobbying firm McAllister & Quinn. He also worked for several years at Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International (SEMI), a trade group, most recently as senior manager of public policy.

Robert Holleyman is CEO and founder of Cloud4Growth, a technology consulting company. Holleyman is the CEO of BSA/The Software Alliance, a trade group. He is also a member of the White House’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. He previously worked as senior counsel for the Democratic staff of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.

Mark Duggan has been hired as a financial analyst in the surety and construction risk management practice at business services company Lockton. Duggan was an analyst at the Kansas City office. He has worked at State Street Bank & Trust as a portfolio administrator.

Anne C. Beal has been appointed chief officer for engagement at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, which was established under the 2010 health care law. She also serves as its deputy executive director. She is transitioning from her role as chief operating officer.
