Rep. Watt In Running To Head Federal Housing Finance Agency

Rep. Mel Watt (D-NC) appears to be under consideration to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency, according to news reports. The Federal Housing Finance Agency controls both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Rep. Watt has experience with these agencies since he serves on the House Financial Services Committee that handles finance, insurance and housing matters. His experience with this industry also extends to his campaign committee and leadership PAC having received over one million dollars from finance and insurance PACs since 1991. Watt’s financial profile indicates he received $233,500 in 2011-2012 from finance and insurance PACs, and a career total of $1,069,268 since 1991. His leadership PAC received $47,000 in 2011-2012 and $67,000 since the PAC began.
