As the saying goes, everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.

But we here at HOH think that on this glorious holiday — which celebrates Irish culture and encourages imbibing in hefty quantities — drinking should be done among the natives.

And what better places to frequent than the Irish pubs on Capitol Hill.

There’s The Dubliner, the tried-and-true Irish pub near Union Station, which got a visit from President Barack Obama on St. Patrick’s Day last year. The bar says it hasn’t got word yet on whether Obama plans to stop by again for a pint of Guinness, but it plans to host three live bands all day Sunday and promises a near-never-ending flow of Guinness and corned beef sandwiches.

Next door to The Dubliner, at Kelly’s Irish Times, the party will go on all weekend. The bar — emblazoned with police and firefighter memorabilia — boasts $2 Miller Light, Coors Light and Miller High Life on Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to close and says there will be no cover Sunday, so everyone can enjoy the merriment.

Molly Malone’s, a more upscale Irish pub on Barracks Row, will open at 8:30 on Sunday morning so fun seekers can start their celebrating early. Sláinte!

A few doors down, at The Ugly Mug, sip on $3 pints of festive green beer (while supplies last), as well as $5 Harp, Smithwick’s and Guinness pours.

And because HOH always enjoys some controversy, we suggest heading to the British-themed Queen Vic on H Street Northeast to throw your Irish pride in the face of Ireland’s mortal enemy, Great Britain.
